Work In Progress

I have been asked about my painting process. I find it is helpful to have images to show how each painting develops and so with my newest series of paintings: " Volcanic Eruptions in Iceland" I have decided to include photographs as the paintings progress. Right now I have 6 paintings about 30" x 40" oil on canvas that I have started in my upstairs studio.

At the same time, I have been teaching myself encaustic and needed more space with better ventilation to work with hot wax so I converted a beautiful dining room into a wonderful studio with a large north-facing windows and lots of air.

In order to have a hard surface for the wax, I have prepared 6, 36" x 40" MDF boards, 2" thick with 4 coats of gesso. I love the surface of bees wax encaustic but find the heat gun to be a bit challenging. Photos will be coming soon.

Let me know what you think,
